National Security

The National Security group ensures that the Prime Minister and other senior Ministers are well served on cross-government intelligence, security and resilience issues.

Civil Contingencies Secretariat

Leads on emergency planning and training to ensure the resilience of the UK at every level. central, regional, and local,  against disruptive challenge.

National Security Secretariat

Maintains capacity for the effective co-ordination of government response in the event of civil emergencies, terrorist incidents and international crises. NSS are responsible for the development of the National Security Strategy

Foreign and Defence Policy Secretariat

Supports the National Security Council, advises the Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister and National Security Adviser on foreign and defence policy and coordinates Government policy on strategic foreign and defence issues.

Intelligence Secretariat and Protective Security

Coordinates protective and physical security policies and oversees performance management of UK intelligence and security aims.

Joint Intelligence Organisation

The Joint Intelligence Organisation leads on intelligence assessment and development of the UK intelligence community’s analytical capability, supporting the work of the Joint Intelligence Committee and National Security Council.
