New £16.7m Hardship Fund to be delivered by the Community Development Foundation

real_help4communities250x235.jpgThe £16.7m Hardship Fund, announced by the Chancellor in the Budget, will be delivered by the Community Development Foundation.

The Fund will provide grant support to third sector organisations delivering front line services to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in society and will be open for applications by the end of July.

Minister for the Third Sector, Angela Smith, said:
 "I am delighted to announce that the new £16.7 million Hardship Fund will be open for applications from the end of July. This is on top of the £42.5m Real Help for Communities package of measures, announced in February.

 "The Hardship Fund was announced by the Chancellor in the Budget to support third sector organisations that are delivering front-line services to the most vulnerable and disadvantaged in society, and have had their work affected by the recession.

 "The Community Development Foundation will be the delivery partner for England in providing grants, assessed on need, to those organisations that are in immediate financial hardship.”
The Fund will be open to third sector organisations in financial hardship which is impacting on their ability to deliver services in the following areas:

Grants between £50,000 and £250,000 will be available to organisations with a turnover of at least £200,000 a year.

The Hardship Fund will be open for applications by the end of July.
