Social Enterprise Action Plan: Two years on

The Office of the Third Sector has today published an update on the Government's progress and achievements taking forward the Social Enterprise Action Plan.

Launched on Social Enterprise Day 2006, the social enterprise action plan set out the Government's plans for supporting social enterprise. On Social Enterprise Day 2008, the Office of the Third Sector looks back over the past two years at the hard work gone into the delivery of the action plan, and looks forward to new policys guided the by the framework set out in the plan.

The update leaflet details progress made against the commitments in the action plan. This includes significant activity across Government departments, the Office of the Third Sector's work with strategic partners and case studies reporting on how social enterprises are changing people's lives at the grass roots level.

The leaflet also sets out future steps to build on the progress achieved so far, including new intitiatives such as:

• a new project on Measuring Social Value, beginning in November 2008
• further work to promote and increasue understanding of social enterprise
• work to continue to build the social investment market and the potential for a social investment wholesaler
