Driving up standards – Fundraising Standards Board annual review published
The Fundraising Standards Board (FRSB), which receives funding from the Office of the Third Sector, published its first annual review ‘Driving up standards’ on 8 May 2008.
The FRSB promotes high standards in fundraising practice and provides the donating public with the mechanism to complain in the event of a problem.
Impact on charitable fundraising standards, handling and resolving public complaints and heeding public opinion are all reported in this first annual review of the FRSB which administers the scheme for self-regulation of fundraising practice.
Phil Hope, Minister for the Third Sector, said:
“The FRSB’s first annual review reports good progress, and I congratulate those charities that have shown their commitment to high standards by joining the scheme. The FRSB’s first year gives it a good platform to take self-regulation forward, and we are confident it has the potential to succeed. However, many more organisations will need to join in the coming year to convince us that the sector has the will to fully embrace self-regulation and make it work. The alternative, as set out in the Charities Act, would be statutory regulation."
