The Office of the Third Sector and Communities & Local Government are holding a joint conference, ‘Strengthening Communities: partners in action’, on Tuesday 5th February 2008.
Ministerial, local government and third sector speakers will address partnership working, community anchors and community empowerment. This is a chance for Local Strategic Partnership members to have dialogue directly with central government.
The government’s vision of engaged, empowered communities requires strong local partnerships. This conference will take forward work on Community Anchors and examine how local authority and third sector partners can support each other in delivering improvements through their Local Area Agreements.
This is an ideal opportunity for local stakeholders to have direct dialogue with central government around the practical implementation of these policy areas.
Phil Hope, Minister for the Third Sector said:
“As a local partner, you have much to contribute to the discussions on how we implement the Government’s broad vision of strong, prosperous and cohesive communities. The third sector and local government are at the heart of seeing this vision realised.
We very much hope that you will be able to join us and many others on 5th February and contribute to this most important debate.”
The conference will be held on Tuesday, 5 February 2008 at Church House, Westminster, London.
The deadline for registering for the conference is Wednesday, 16
January 2008.
