OTS Director General awards 2007 Beacon Prize Scheme winner

OTS Director General, Campbell Robb, presented the Beacon Fellowship
Charitable Trust’s 2007 overall awards winner, Alexander Mclean, with
£30,000 at the Beacon Fellowship Gala Prize Dinner on 22 November. The
Trust awards annual prizes to individuals who have made exceptional
contributions to charitable causes or organisations that benefit the
public.
The Beacon Fellowship Charitable Trust is one of the OTS’s strategic
partners. It was set up to encourage individual contributions to charitable
and social causes and to celebrate and showcase best practice in giving.
The winner of this year’s award, Alexander McLean is the Director and
founder of the charitable initiative ‘The African Prisons Project’, which
aims to alleviate the suffering of prisoners in Africa. OTS Director
General, Campbell Robb, said:
“The African Prisons Project is a truly remarkable venture, helping some
of the most vulnerable people in the world. This is exactly the kind of
work that the OTS wants to see thrive.”
Minister for the Third Sector, Phil Hope also gave a statement offering his
support for the awards:
“As a strategic partner of the OTS, the Trust demonstrates its ability to
promote the importance and experience of charitable giving on a national
scale, helping to influence government policy.The Beacon Fellows are true
ambassadors of philanthropy and an inspiration to others who want to
contribute to strengthening their communities by supporting charitable
and social causes.”
