Leading social entrepreneur joins Office of the Third Sector

17 October 2007

Kevin Robbie

Kevin Robbie, the former Chief Executive of Forth Sector, one of Scotland’s leading social enterprises, has joined the social enterprise and finance team in the Office of the Third Sector.

Kevin will be working on ways to measure 'social return on investment', including on the Office of the Third Sector's own investment programmes. He will also be working on overcoming barriers to sub-contracting and consortia-building for third sector organisations bidding for public service contracts.

He joins the Office of the Third Sector on secondment from Forth Sector, where he has worked for nine years. Forth Sector helps create employment and training opportunities for people with mental health problems, and now provides support to about 150 people a year. He was also involved in setting up Forth Sector Development, a social enterprise that gives business support to voluntary and community organisations. He will be using this experience to help the Office of the Third Sector take forward its work supporting social enterprise across the country.

Kevin will be spending three days a week with the Office of the Third Sector until the end of March 2008. He will continue to work for Forth Sector for two days a week.
