Go-Givers
The Citizenship Foundation has developed curriculum materials for primary schools through ‘Go-Givers’, a project funded by the Office of the Third Sector. Go-Givers has a dedicated website containing lesson plans for teachers, interactive involvement for children, and a section for parents.
Go-Givers is designed to fit with the guidance for personal, social and health education and citizenship, and is linked to other subjects in the primary curriculum. The site aims to promote an understanding of charity and empathy among children, through free learning materials for teachers, activities for children and supportive advice for parents.
The website was fully rolled out in April 2007. By February 2008, nearly 1,000 teachers had registered to access materials from the site and committed to take part in the scheme, from more than 650 schools, and the website is receiving around 10,000 page visits a month.
Go-Givers has received universally positive feedback from presentations to local authorities, with those attending praising the useful resources for teachers and enjoyable activities for the children taking part.
