Compact annual reviews

The operation and development of the Compact is reviewed every year at a meeting between ministers, local government and the sector, represented by the Compact Voice, at which a joint action plan is agreed and following which a report is placed in the Houses of Parliament. The eighth annual meeting was held on 13 December 2007.

The meeting highlighted action taken over the year to improve the relationship between government and the sector, and announced Commendations for Excellence in Compact Work.  The  Joint Compact Action Plan 2008-09 [PDF 59KB, 5 pages], agreed at the meeting, represents a full and challenging programme of work.  It aims to:

Following the annual meeting, the Commission for the Compact, Compact Voice and the Office of the Third Sector have developed an implementation plan to sit alongside the Joint Compact Action Plan that outlines in more detail the work that is to be carried out this year.

This year the Compact will celebrate its tenth anniversary, and we are committed to ensuring the Compact is stronger than ever.  Together we need to ensure the Compact becomes embedded in our day to day thinking, and that it becomes a story of change to drive better outcomes for communities and the people they serve.

The next annual review meeting will be held om 2 December 2008 and will hold partners to account for delivery of the action plan.  As part of the annual review, Government will report on progress in meeting its commitment to three-year funding for the sector.
