The operation and development of the Compact is reviewed every year at a meeting between ministers, local government and the sector, represented by the Compact Voice, at which a joint action plan is agreed and following which a report is placed in the Houses of Parliament.
The Joint Compact Action Plan 2008-09 [PDF 59KB, 5 pages], agreed at the 2007 meeting, represents a full and challenging programme of work. It aims to:
The Commission for the Compact, Compact Voice and the Office of the Third Sector have developed an implementation plan to sit alongside the Joint Compact Action Plan that outlines in more detail the work that is being carried out this year.
The ninth annual meeting was held on 2 December 2008. We will be taking forward recommendations presented at the meeting to ensure the Compact is better implemented in the future, and is brought up to date. A published report of the meeting will be published in the New Year. We will be looking at next steps with Compact Voice and the LGA, and will be developing a joint action plan for 2009-10 with the Commission for the Compact.
