Social Exclusion Task Force News Update: March 2007

Welcome to the latest news from the Social Exclusion Task Force in the Cabinet Office.

Social exclusion conferences – register now for your free place

The Social Exclusion Task Force is holding three high profile conferences in Brighton (20 March), Leeds (26 March) and Birmingham (28 March).

The conferences are one–day events running c. 10am – 4pm. They will update you on progress since the launch of Reaching Out: An Action Plan on Social Exclusion last September, including the pilot projects announced in the Action Plan and developments in systemic reform.

We would also like to get your views on a major new review of excluded and at–risk families. This Families At–Risk Review is investigating how best to provide effective family support systems for excluded and at–risk families, focusing in particular on how well adults' services respond to their clients as parents or carers. The Review will be published in summer 2007.

A key aim of the events is to generate discussion to inform the Families At–Risk Review. So, as part of the conference we would like you to participate in one of three afternoon workshops, beginning with a talk from leading thinkers and practitioners, on the following strands of the Review:

The Birmingham conference on 28 March is in partnership with the Government Office for the West Midlands and will include a fourth workshop with a regional focus:

Places are free but strictly limited, so we would encourage you to register now at: www.coievents.co.uk/socialexclusionconference[External website]. We will ask you to confirm which conference you wish to attend, and which workshop. While we will do our best to accommodate workshop preferences, please note that spaces are limited for each.

For any questions about the conferences or registration process, please contact our conference organisers COI at mailto:socialinclusionconferences@coi.gsi.gov.uk or on 0207 261 8400.
