Details

Following the applications to the Transition Fund the Cabinet Office received a private report from ACEVO which set out preliminary findings of spending reductions based on applicants’ assumptions of reduction in statutory income.

Subsequent data, based on evidence of the actual reductions experienced by recipients of the Fund, showed that some applicants had over stated expected reductions in statutory income.

Therefore we do not consider the ACEVO findings to be a reliable estimate. 78% of charities do not receive funding from statutory sources, and those that do vary greatly in their dependency on this income source.  As such, it is not appropriate to extrapolate findings from a small number of organisations to the rest of the sector.

We are publishing BIG’s interim findings on the Transition Fund to provide more information on the impact of the fund, as well as the original ACEVO report.
