Today the Government has published its response to pre-legislative scrutiny and the public consultation on Individual Electoral Registration (IER). It has also set out its response to the Political and Constitutional Reform Committee’s recommendations relating to the Electoral Administration proposals published last year.
In response to the feedback the Government received a number of key changes have been proposed to ensure as many eligible people as possible stay on the electoral register during the transition and more focus can be given to those eligible to vote but missing from the register.
Published alongside this Command Paper is the IER Implementation Timeline.
The Literature Review was commissioned from Dr Stuart Wilks-Heeg, a respected academic and authority in this area, which contributed to the evidence base for the IER policy decisions.
