Dame Janet Finch has decided to withdraw her application to be the next chair of the UK Statistics Authority.
 
Following an open recruitment scheme, Dame Janet was selected as the Government’s preferred candidate for the role and appeared before the Public Administration Select Committee on 28 June for the pre-appointment hearing.
 
Having reflected on the hearing Dame Janet has decided to withdraw from the competition - the exchange of letters between Dame Janet and the Cabinet Secretary are attached.
 
The current Chair of the UK Statistics Authority, Sir Michael Scholar, has agreed to continue as Chair until a successor is in post.
