Cabinet Secretary publishes fourth tranche of Capability Reviews

Cabinet Secretary, Sir Gus O'Donnell, today published Capability Reviews for the Crown Prosecution Service, Department of Health and Department for Transport. 15 reports have now been published covering nearly 80 per cent of the Civil Service.

Capability Reviews were announced for all Government departments in October 2005 and are robust, evidence–based assessments of Departments' capabilities to meet significant future challenges.

Each of the three reports published today includes a formal assessment of departmental capability in ten key areas and a response from the respective Permanent Secretary outlining which actions they intend to take as a result.

Before the end of the year, follow–up reports will be published of the first four departments to be reviewed alongside an assessment of the impact of the programme so far.
