Government to make debt services fairer and more preventative
The Cabinet Office has published an interim report on debt owed to government, by the Fraud, Error and Debt Taskforce.

The Cabinet Office has published an interim report on debt owed to government. The report comes from the cross-government ‘Fraud, Error and Debt Taskforce’ - a new team set up by the government in 2010, within six months of taking office, to get a better grip on money lost through fraud, error and debt. The taskforce has already saved £5 million for taxpayers by reducing fraud and error since 2010.
This interim report is early work - the government’s new approach to tackle debt will be set out in a final report in summer 2012, and will be focused on prevention and fairness.
