The National Resilience Extranet (NRE) is a secure web based browser tool that enables responders to have access to key information up to and including RESTRICTED level, for multi-agency working and communication.
The NRE is available for use by all Category 1 & 2 Responders, Government Departments and Agencies and other key organisations in the UK resilience community to share knowledge, plan responses to emergency situations and manage incidents as they happen.
The NRE provides the UK resilience community with a common system that enables the timely, efficient and secure communication and exchange of information. This allows users to work together in routine planning, sharing best practice plans and documents where appropriate and, in the event of an emergency, allows the fast dissemination of documentation such as minutes, situation reports and press lines to relevant teams and individuals.
The collaboration functionality application of the NRE is Atlas Collaborate. It is specifically designed to support collaborative working between responders at national, regional and local levels during routine planning and in response to emergencies.
The NRE runs across GSi accredited networks: it is also accessible via a secure internet connection for users when they are out of the office or do not otherwise have access to a GSi accredited network (subject to compliance with the End User Security Agreement). PNN, CJX and GCSx users can access the NRE via the existing Public Sector Interconnect (PSI) into the GSi community.
The NRE is an affordable, subscription based solution that is run as a managed service supplied by BT working in conjunction with Ultra Electronics.
