Cabinet Office Impact Assessments (IAs)
The Impact Assessment process encourages policy makers to identify and assess the impacts of a policy proposal. This involves identifying clearly the need for intervention first (e.g. to address a risk of harm to the public) and then, using the available evidence, in consultation with relevant stakeholders, to explore proposals that best achieve the policy objectives while minimising the costs and burdens imposed in achieving the objectives.
