The skills and experience that people bring to the job are crucial to the performance of our organisation and it is therefore vital that learning and development is at the heart of Cabinet Office's culture

Learning within the Cabinet Office is continuous. You will develop capabilities through on-the-job work experience and formalised training. We aim to provide an environment that encourages all employees to learn, teach and share their experiences with their colleagues. To support this, the Cabinet Office provides a number of developmental initiatives to enable you to achieve your potential, including:

• Coaching – to provide insight into different ways of behaviour;
• Leadership Programmes – offering support to staff on a range of more formal development programmes where appropriate
• Mentoring – to support and encourage our people in the management of their own learning and experiences to enable them to maximise their potential
• Skills for life initiatives – to ensure that all our people have the basic skills in literacy and numeracy to enable them to progress to further learning and employment
