Volunteering

The Government and in turn the Cabinet Office has the view that active and vibrant communities depend on active citizens. Charities and community groups simply could not exist without the committed support and hard work of volunteers and donors.

The Cabinet Office is therefore keen to encourage its people to participate in volunteering activity. It recognises that many already do on a regular basis outside of work, however, to encourage greater activity it provides one day paid entitlement for voluntary activity. The day can be used by members of staff for an individual volunteering activity or by individuals as part of a group volunteering activity.
