Cabinet Office ministers
The ministers based in the Cabinet Office provide strategic leadership to the Department and coordinate government policy and strategy.
- The Rt Hon Liam Byrne MP – Minister for the Cabinet Office and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster
- Kevin Brennan MP – Parliamentary Secretary (Minister for the Third Sector)
- Tom Watson MP – Parliamentary Secretary (Minister for Digital Engagement and Civil Service Issues)
- Shriti Vadera – Parliamentary Secretary (Minister for Economic Competitiveness and Small Business) (jointly with the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform)
- The Rt Hon Tessa Jowell MP – Minister for the Olympics and Paymaster General
Cabinet Office Board
The role of the Cabinet Office Board is to steer and manage the business of the Department in accordance with ministerial priorities. Its responsibilities include:
- To recommend a business plan and resource allocation, and strategy for achieving the Department's business objectives to ministers
- Monitor and improve the Department's performance against these
- Ensure that risks are identified and effectively managed
- Oversee the Better Cabinet Office programme
- Ensure that standards and values within the Cabinet Office support the aims of the Department, and good government more generally
- Safeguard and enhance the Department's standards and values.
